World AIDS Day Observed at NSS Training College, Ottapalam

World AIDS Day was observed with great awareness and significance at NSS Training College, Ottapalam on 1st December 2025. The programme was jointly organised by the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit No. 301 with the aim of spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS and promoting compassion towards affected individuals.

The programme began with an address by Dr. Lekshmi V (In-charge, Red Ribbon Club), who highlighted the importance of World AIDS Day and the need to build awareness among youth. Following this, the Principal, Prof. Dr. Smitha R, delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the role of education in preventing the spread of HIV/AIDS and encouraging students to adopt safe and responsible lifestyles.

A special attraction of the programme was the Diya lighting ceremony, where lamps were arranged in the shape of the AIDS awareness ribbon. The lamp was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Smitha R, and was followed by teachers and students lighting the diyas together. The glowing ribbon created a beautiful and powerful visual message symbolizing hope, awareness, and solidarity.

As part of the observance, red ribbons were distributed to all class in-charges and teachers by Prof. Dr. Smitha R, to spread the message of awareness throughout the campus. The active participation of students and staff made the programme meaningful and impactful.

Also in connection with World AIDS Day 2025, NSS UNIT 301 and the Red Ribbon Club jointly organized an awareness programme that included a Reel Making Competition to encourage student participation and creative expression.

The event successfully created awareness about HIV/AIDS, promoted empathy, and strengthened the collective commitment of the institution towards building a healthy and informed society.
