Kanal Fest
NSS Training College, Ottapalam orchestrated a noteworthy event in commemoration of Women's Day. The collaborative efforts of the Women Development Cell, the Department of Women and Child Development, the NSS Unit, and IQAC culminated in the grandeur of the Kanal Fest held on February 15, 2024, within the hallowed halls of the institution.
The solemnity of the occasion was inaugurated with a prayer led by the college students, setting a contemplative tone for the proceedings. Mr. Nithin CC, a distinguished Gender Specialist from Palakkad, extended a warm welcome, laying the foundation for an enlightening day. The Presidential Address, a pivotal moment, was eloquently delivered by Smt. Sreeja PM, CDPO Ottapalam Additional, infusing the event with substance and gravitas.
The Fest was officially inaugurated by the esteemed principal Professor Dr. Ampili Aravind, marking the commencement of a day replete with intellectual and cultural nourishment. Distinguished personalities, including Dr. Seema Menon KP, the WDC Teacher Coordinator, Dr. Lakshmi V, the Staff Secretary, and Mr. Suresh Kumar K, the Office Head, graced the occasion with their felicitations, emphasizing the importance of women's development.
A momentous Gender Awareness Class unfolded from 10 AM to 11 AM, expertly conducted by Smt. Anjana A. This enlightening session laid bare the nuances of gender dynamics, fostering a deeper understanding among the participants. Subsequently, from 11 AM to 11.30 AM, the cultural panorama unfolded with captivating performances by students from the college's 1st and 2nd years, adding a vibrant touch to the festivities.
The next session witnessed a practical and empowering self-defense training session facilitated by the Kerala Police from 11.30 AM to 12.30 PM. Empowering participants with essential skills for personal safety, this session encapsulated the practical aspect of women's empowerment.
Following the self-defense training, a riveting debate on the nuanced theme of benevolent sexism unfolded between the 1st and 2nd-year students from 12.30 PM to 1 PM. This intellectual discourse showcased the analytical prowess of the participants, engaging them in a thoughtful exchange of ideas.
The culmination of the event was marked by the resonant notes of the National Anthem, echoing a collective celebration of unity and patriotism.
